Mediumship

Mediumship is the gift of connecting with loved ones who have passed over. There are references to mediumship in the Bible, and mediumship is a gift possessed by witch doctors and shamans, as well as modern day Mediums, and clairvoyant mediums. Obviously, mediumship is associated closely in the UK and abroad with the Spiritualist Church, but it is a natural gift which is thought to exist in most cultures across the world.

Mediums connect with people who have passed on from their lives on the physical plane and  reside in worlds beyond the five senses. Conventional medium beliefs involve the belief in a peaceful afterlife, the existence of a divine spirit, and that love is eternal. in other words, we are never parted from those who we love, even if they pass over.

Psychic mediums often combine their mediumship with clairvoyance, or tarot reading, to provide information received from Spirit, their guides and also their own intuition. Mediumship is often conducted on stages or platforms, either at a Spiritualist Church, psychic fair, or even in theatres for the most popular Mediums, such as Derek Acorah, Tony Stockwell or John Edwards.

Mediumship is not an exact science. There are no guarantees that a medium will connect with any particular spirit who has passed over. Mediums tend to open themselves up to the possibility of messages from the other side, and then seek someone in the audience who can connect with the person that seem to be communicating with them. During a phone reading, a medium will usually connect with you, through your voice, your name and perhaps your date of birth. A clairvoyant medium will wait and talk to you for a little giving Spirit the chance to come forward and communicate with them. Sometimes, this results in them giving you a name and a description of someone  they hope you will recognise as a relative.
